From Our Founder
My journey begins in the humblest of circumstances, born to a 15-year-old mother, growing up in poverty. Life was a daily challenge, and luxuries like movies, toys, and even cable TV were beyond our reach. These were treasures I yearned for – not just for entertainment, but for a sense of belonging, to connect with the world that my friends at school lived in.
I remember vividly, the feelings of longing and isolation. In my desperation, I learned to pirate cable TV, driven by a deep desire to experience the world beyond my immediate reality. Despite the hardships, my mother's unwavering determination was the beacon that guided our path out of poverty. Her relentless work ethic, coupled with her pursuit of education, gradually improved our lives.
A pivotal moment came with my first experience with Star Wars. That day wasn't just about watching a movie; it was a gateway to a universe of possibilities, igniting a passion within me. When I was eleven I attended my first concert and I felt an overwhelming sense of connection – to the music, the people, and the world.
These experiences shaped me. I carried my mother's resilience and the transformative power of those artful moments into my adult life, leading to a successful career in television and film. I've been privileged to produce national TV programs, contribute to projects for the President of the United States and Congress, and see my work featured in museums, including the Smithsonian.
But success is more than accolades and achievements; it's about giving back, paying forward the opportunities that were once out of my reach.
Our Mission
This non-profit is not just an organization; it's a culmination of my life's journey, a testament to the transformative power of the arts. It's about offering at-risk and underserved youth the opportunities that once felt like distant dreams to a young child sitting in front of a pirated cable TV.
Our mission is to bridge the gap between desire and access, to open doors to movies, concerts, galleries, and art classes – free of charge. We believe these experiences are not mere pastimes but essential elements of personal growth, cultural connection, and creative expression.
I've lived the reality of our target audience. I understand the longing, the sense of exclusion, and the transformative impact that access to the arts can have. This non-profit aims to turn what was once a personal longing into a shared reality for many. We strive to inspire, connect, and empower the next generation, nurturing their potential through the boundless world of the arts.
